Uses and Gratifications of Academic Conferences

You are invited to participate in our survey on academic conferences.

Purposes of the survey

This study provides important input about the use and gratifications expected of academic conferences. The survey intends to collect data for the following purposes:

  • To gather use and gratification of technology-enhanced conferences; and
  • To contribute to research on academic conferences for professional development.

Gathering and processing of information

The expected time investment for the completion is 10 to15 minutes. It is possible to interrupt the fulfilment of the online-survey ("Resume later") and return afterwards. The mandatory questions are highlighted with a "*".

Your participation in this survey is voluntary and your specific responses and personal details, such as age, gender and position, are anonymized and will not be shared. The survey is strictly anonymous.

The data you provide will be used exclusively for statistical analysis and interpretation concerning use and gratification of conferences.

Data privacy and access

Your data will be collected with a secure online form and will neither be shared to any third parties outside the PhD research nor will any individually identifiable information be released in any printed or online publications (e.g., academic journals and conference proceedings). Only the researchers of the Open University of the Netherlands affiliated with the research project will have access to the data.

Your answers will be stored for the duration of the PhD research and will be permanently deleted after its official completion.
